Blog Post 29- Editing Research

Image
I went a researched many different types of editing styles to find the best one for my documentary, and i have finalized that it will be using what is called spilt screen editing. Spilt screen editing heavily expresses connections between two different people, scenes, events. All it is doing is showing the audiences two sepearate things and having the audience interpret them throughout specific tiny details. an example could be that a couple is both having the same desert even though they are miles apart but it shows they are still connected. But it does not just show connection it can show how different peoples lives could be, an example of this in my film can be the loud nosies of the sea when sleeping on the ship to the quiet nosies while everyone is asleep in there own beds. One of the features is having two people do a synchronized action, this once again shows meaning and connection even though they do not know it. Another part that may be benefitail for this type of editing...

Blog Post 28- First Instagram Post

Image
As a teaser, today i posted my first instagram post to tell the viewers a new piece from Nehr Vision Studios is on the way. This not only got the audience interesed but as well a bit intrigued on what the documentary is going to be about. This can make them feel many different ways, some being excited that something new is coming while others may be upset and say they are on a cliffhanger with these slow releases of the documentary. I stratigically added many factors that the audience might not be able to tell yet.  As you can see i first edited the photo of the cast adding the words "coming soon" with the time its coming out and the production company so nobody is confused about where it came from or who made it. I edited the photo to take away the color and so there was not anything tos specifically focus on. I want to slowly release details about the film as time goes on to keep audiences and create more viewers overtime. The caption is clearly defining that a new release...

Blog Post 27- Starting An Instagram

Image
An easy way to market is through social media specifically instagram since it is one of the top meta apps currently. Creating a professional instagram for my production company has many steps that are necessary, The first steps are to create a name and bio in my case i chose to do my film company as the name and describe it in a couple words for my bio in hopes i get followers. Adding things like a profile picture and links to other social medias will also help the instagram look more professional. Ways to make it more professinal is to add a headshots rather than selfies Instead of using slang emojis or more current popular things it would be more benefitial to use correct grammar and purposful slang to reach my directed audiences. I plan on posting stories on my instagram of the actors and other small updates. This is an easy way to keep audiences involved.  As you can see i started my instagram journey with all the special features like the profile picture/ logo i designed...

Blog Post 26- Creating A Title

Image
Before i can post On instagram i need to find a title that best suits my documentary, but just because i find one that does not mean i am going to release it anytime soon, this is one of my tactics to interest and intrigue my audience, like a limited release. After my research i discovered that i as well want to have a catchy title for my documentary, the reason i want this is because of the specific strategies. Those strategies include stopping the scroll, improves searchablility, encouraging word of mouth, and set the tone or core theme before its released, and lastly just for branding purposes. The stopping for scrolling is mainly used when people are browsing for a show or movie to watch, this usually goes fast while people are looking for something to watch they do not want to wait, they want to find something as quick as possible so they will pick something that pops out to them, thats why finding a name thats catchy is extremly important. Improving serachability is making th...

Blog Post 25- Three Products- Social media

Social media is one of the biggest ways to promote new products and in the media world new films, the reason this is so affcetive is because most people in the current generation are using media all throughout  the day so by one simple post products are getting farther than they would be without the post. A way to reach farther audiences are to add hashtags and locations which help reach audiences feed quicker which can make more people see it and promote it. As well as it can allow the production to see what the people like and are interested in and this will help find an idea on future products or little things in current films that will interest the audience. A huge beneifit of having a social media for your company or film is that it builds an audience early, so people are already excited about upcoming things, same thing goes for short teasers they create large benefits because the audience wants to know more about the film. Instagram in particauly is know more m ore est...

Blog Post 24- Three Products- Print

Image
Print media is very different than video media, they have the same traits but they are relayed in different ways. For example emotion, it is a big part in both print and video media. In video media is it relayed though body language and facial expressions, meanwhile these are not things they can not be printed or shown in print media so authors need to show emotions through language and the way they write. Print media is used to share infomation or news to the rest of the world. It is also an amazing way to promote products and advirtisments. As well as entertain or educate the audience. It is important because you do not need any internet to see these things. So people who may not have accsess or are'nt very good with technology are able to see whats happening around the world  After some consideration i realized this is something i should add into my documentary for the reason that it will reach a farther audience that not many people are expecting. My goal as a production compan...

Blog Post 23- Three Products - Video

Image
Video is the most important part of documentary's, it is a key feature and it would be extremely hard to succeed without it. In a documentary almost all shots are handheld and propped up. This can be to emphasize things they are talking about as well as provide an example . When footage is shaky and not as clean this can make it seem more real and make it more sensory for the audience. Adding what you are talking about and it gives an audience a clear image instead of having them assume what the the documentary wants them to think or see. You want to provide your audience with these major things, one the narrative of the which sets the rest of documentary which in this case would be the husband in the military, and how he feels about being far from his family and how he thinks it effects his family. Then the supplementary footage which is all the extra footage that relates and help builds toward the meaning but not the main focus, in this case that would be the clips of dirty dish...

Blog Post 22- Narrativies Of Documentary

Image
All films usually consists of a narrative, so i went and researched the main four. These consists of the three act structure, circular narrative, linear/ chronological narrative, and parallel/multi-strand. The three strand act is when it is a fictional story for an example where there is a hero and a princess, these are made strictly for entertainment and it contains when there is an obstacle to get through to either start a new resoultion, and a new understanding within the audience. The circular narrative is when the film starts off what with the film will also end with, this has it so the middle shows how they got to this point it. A linear/ chronological narrative is when a film or media presents everything exactly how it happened in order. A parallel/ multi-strand is when there are multiple stories happening at once, the storylines are made to seem like they are unrelated but eventually they will meet in the same storyline and they all will share something in common related t...

Blog Post 21- How To Market

Image
Marketing is a key component to creating media. It is a way to expand audiences and make more people want to watch the media which can expand the profits very well.  Social media is a easy and great way to market media. Most people spend there day with and on social media. The average amount of social media use in America is 6 hours a day, so marketing through social media is an easy way to get either your production studio or the media they are creating out into the public.  The platform i will be using to market is an really popular app called instagram. On this app i can promote and create sneak peaks for the upcoming audience. this can create a tease and make the audience more intersted and intreged to watch it. I can do this by showing photos and different texts that might go along with the documentary, and to keep the audience updated they have the oppertunity to follow my production account. Another great thing about this app as that me as the owner of the product...

Blog Post 20- Starting A Production Company

Image
Having a company who provides documentaries and other film is extremely important, it a way for people to know where the media came from, which eventually can produce more films, documentaries and media later. These can be extremely beneficial for many reasons, starting off is that you can be creative with your own work, and share all the ideas with the rest of the world, another being that you choose who you hire, so you can choose the every best for all of your projects and you have complete control over it. As well as it teaches you important skills like leadership, time management, and most importantly communication. Another huge one is that it can develop into something much bigger to share stories and creativity, most production companies start small and can grow to become extremely large and popular like Colombia production. Growing is a large part of the media career and by creating one can make it a lot more unchallenging.  i made my own production company officially owned...

Blog Post 19- Directed Audience

The directed audience is people are extremely emotional, or in other words people who lean more towards romantic and emotional films. These films often bring out large and impactful emotions for the audience, which result in crying, or in extreme cases sobbing.  My documentary has a lot of emotional factors between the separation and the children and wife missing there father figure and husband.  Having a directed audience can be extremely beneficial more multiple reasons. The first reason being that it will create a clearer and more direct message, this is extremely beneficial for the audience because things are simple and easy to comprehend. Another reason is a larger engagement if people know they will like it they are more willing to go which it creating great marketing. And overall will have better results because the documentary is based off of one main component that the audience knows they like to watch. It can also save a lot of time and money because instead of tryin...

Blog Post 18- How To Film Interviews

Image
Interviews are often set up threw a tripod with intentional backgrounds, to go further into depth, the reason for this is too keep the audience focused on one thing, or the most important thing. This can be shown in almost all interviews espically in documentaries. In the video i have provided it gives a perfect example how this interview is set up, the camera is being propped up either way to face the peron who is speaking there is little to no camera movement and this is strictly to undirectly tell the audience where and what they should be paying attention to. Another thing to point out is the background, the people speaking are in what looks like an interviewing room in a jail, considering they are talking to a criminal this makes sense and it adds a sense of logic for the directed audience. The interviewing starts around 8 minutes into the video.  i can use this in my interview to create a large sense of logic to my piece. For my interviewing section i would propp up a c...
