Blog Post 22- Narrativies Of Documentary

All films usually consists of a narrative, so i went and researched the main four. These consists of the three act structure, circular narrative, linear/ chronological narrative, and parallel/multi-strand. The three strand act is when it is a fictional story for an example where there is a hero and a princess, these are made strictly for entertainment and it contains when there is an obstacle to get through to either start a new resoultion, and a new understanding within the audience. The circular narrative is when the film starts off what with the film will also end with, this has it so the middle shows how they got to this point it. A linear/ chronological narrative is when a film or media presents everything exactly how it happened in order. A parallel/ multi-strand is when there are multiple stories happening at once, the storylines are made to seem like they are unrelated but eventually they will meet in the same storyline and they all will share something in common related to the theme.

For my documentary the best choice will be to use the linear/ chronological narrative to explain how things are the way they are and give the overall best conclusion for my documentary. I will show this by putting similar information together and not adding in things that were prevoiusly talked about. In the documentary " the great hack'' on Netflix it displays how things happened in order and that makes a linear narrative. This film talks about way people have gotten hacked in the past, it presents to there audience how the things happened.
