Blog Post 23- Three Products - Video

Video is the most important part of documentary's, it is a key feature and it would be extremely hard to succeed without it. In a documentary almost all shots are handheld and propped up. This can be to emphasize things they are talking about as well as provide an example . When footage is shaky and not as clean this can make it seem more real and make it more sensory for the audience. Adding what you are talking about and it gives an audience a clear image instead of having them assume what the the documentary wants them to think or see. You want to provide your audience with these major things, one the narrative of the which sets the rest of documentary which in this case would be the husband in the military, and how he feels about being far from his family and how he thinks it effects his family. Then the supplementary footage which is all the extra footage that relates and help builds toward the meaning but not the main focus, in this case that would be the clips of dirty dished and how the mother has to do it all on her own without her husband present, these add to the point of that the mother does not have help. As well as background information the audience does not know. This can provide more emotion in the audiences eyes knowing what they have already gone though. In this case it could be all the struggles between the wife and husband trying to get married while he is out to see and how the father figure has not been able to make it to all of the children sports events. And lastly is real footage of when it happened this can be extremley benefitial towards the audience because it can give that sense if logic to the documentary in this case it can be clips of the father figure working and the mother struggling. The clip below shows an example of suplamental footage
