Blog Post 33- Adding Sounds To The Interview

Image
The place that i filmed the interview was very loud and windy so the camera was not able to catch all of the sounds, so to prevent soft sound i got microphones that i would then have to add the sounds on top of and match them to the video clip. Im the real media world there are people called boom operators who hold the boom sticks . A boom stick is what catches all the sounds the camera might not pick up. They have many things that they need to do to make sure the job is done right , this includes making sure the mic is in the right placement, making sure there is no shadow, and move with the actor so every sound created is captured in the boom stick. As a small media distrubuter i have come to the conclusion that using small microphones connected to the mans shirt or as they are called a lavalier instead of a boomstick is the better option, this is for many reasons one that it may be a better qualitiy because it is closer to the person and the sounds they are making, besides th...

Blog Post 32- Theme

Image
Theme is another key element in media, plot and theme are very different, theme is the meaning of the story while plot is what is happening. Themes are a curcial part of the documentary because it is the underlying message of the media. It matters espcially in documentary's because if they did not have it would just be a bunch of random footage that does not make sense. Theme helps devlop the rest of the documentary as in, what background characters to us , what dialouge to use music, and other very important aspects of a film. Without these it is almost impossible to even have a documentary. All things need to be tied together and without a theme to make it all link than it can be confusing and off putting. Themes can be extremley simple and broad, more of a simple connecter.  The theme of my documentary could be emotional loss. This is the theme because of how the people are not emotionally avaliable for each other, they are all expiercing loss and need extra help. As well ...

Blog Post 31- Vocabulary

Image
When making a documentary it is better to use higher level vocabulary for many reasons, Not just because it can make it sound smart but also making it mire precise. Espically in times when you have a limited time it can be easy to scramble up a paragraph so by using advanced vocabulary can make sentences short and easy to read. Documentaries are often quick paced and, lots of information has to be passed on quick so by using advanced vocabulary can make the audience process the information faster. Higher level vocabulary, allows to compact more words in a sentence to get all the information out to the audience.  I could apply this by planning what the interviewer is going to do say before they answers the questions, and make the words and sentences shorter by compacting details as well as using larger words that the audience will understand. As well that it can sound more smart or sophiticated and make the audeince respect the people speaking in the documentary, or the docume...

Blog Post 30- Potential Background Characters

Image
Having background characters seem to be essential and extremley beneifitial in some films. Espically in documntaries, it can add a sense of realism or social context to the documentary. It is to show that when a camera is turned on it is still the same world it always is.  There are many but like most things there are there disadvantages. A large problem is usually the observer effect, background charcters are know to either accidentally looked into the camera or not realize. The point of having background characters are to make the film seem more realistic and that can not happen if the background characters are going to either stare into the camera or  performing like it is there own media production. To prevent these things from happening i have made sure to use specific background characters to make sure everything runs smoothly  This guy is Daniel Dunham a very basic looking american, who joined the miltary 5 years ago, born in the midwest, goes home to see his...

Blog Post 29- Editing Research

Image
I went a researched many different types of editing styles to find the best one for my documentary, and i have finalized that it will be using what is called spilt screen editing. Spilt screen editing heavily expresses connections between two different people, scenes, events. All it is doing is showing the audiences two sepearate things and having the audience interpret them throughout specific tiny details. an example could be that a couple is both having the same desert even though they are miles apart but it shows they are still connected. But it does not just show connection it can show how different peoples lives could be, an example of this in my film can be the loud nosies of the sea when sleeping on the ship to the quiet nosies while everyone is asleep in there own beds. One of the features is having two people do a synchronized action, this once again shows meaning and connection even though they do not know it. Another part that may be benefitail for this type of editing...

Blog Post 28- First Instagram Post

Image
As a teaser, today i posted my first instagram post to tell the viewers a new piece from Nehr Vision Studios is on the way. This not only got the audience interesed but as well a bit intrigued on what the documentary is going to be about. This can make them feel many different ways, some being excited that something new is coming while others may be upset and say they are on a cliffhanger with these slow releases of the documentary. I stratigically added many factors that the audience might not be able to tell yet.  As you can see i first edited the photo of the cast adding the words "coming soon" with the time its coming out and the production company so nobody is confused about where it came from or who made it. I edited the photo to take away the color and so there was not anything tos specifically focus on. I want to slowly release details about the film as time goes on to keep audiences and create more viewers overtime. The caption is clearly defining that a new release...

Blog Post 27- Starting An Instagram

Image
An easy way to market is through social media specifically instagram since it is one of the top meta apps currently. Creating a professional instagram for my production company has many steps that are necessary, The first steps are to create a name and bio in my case i chose to do my film company as the name and describe it in a couple words for my bio in hopes i get followers. Adding things like a profile picture and links to other social medias will also help the instagram look more professional. Ways to make it more professinal is to add a headshots rather than selfies Instead of using slang emojis or more current popular things it would be more benefitial to use correct grammar and purposful slang to reach my directed audiences. I plan on posting stories on my instagram of the actors and other small updates. This is an easy way to keep audiences involved.  As you can see i started my instagram journey with all the special features like the profile picture/ logo i designed...
