Blog Post 32- Theme

 Theme is another key element in media, plot and theme are very different, theme is the meaning of the story while plot is what is happening. Themes are a curcial part of the documentary because it is the underlying message of the media. It matters espcially in documentary's because if they did not have it would just be a bunch of random footage that does not make sense. Theme helps devlop the rest of the documentary as in, what background characters to us , what dialouge to use music, and other very important aspects of a film. Without these it is almost impossible to even have a documentary. All things need to be tied together and without a theme to make it all link than it can be confusing and off putting. Themes can be extremley simple and broad, more of a simple connecter. 

The theme of my documentary could be emotional loss. This is the theme because of how the people are not emotionally avaliable for each other, they are all expiercing loss and need extra help. As well that many people are effected by one thing that happened, now four people are suffering because of one decesion. According to Sturt Halls reception threoy, people will interpret things based on their own expirences, so in this case will come to the theme they think fits best based off of things they have previously went through. The theme emotional loss can also be interpreted as temporal displacement or inconvenience. These themes can easilt be mixed up and are all very similar, they can all work, its just how the audience may perceive it. As an example the photo down below can be precived as many different ways
